CREATIVE WRITING

Imagination inspires us to explore the realm of possibility, while creative writing brings those visions to life on the page. From a young age, I've found joy in crafting random stories in my mind during moments of boredom, transforming them into fully realized plots for my own fictional novels.

To me, the characters in my stories are alive; they live in a parallel dimension where all my imagined narratives unfold.

Death Light at Noon

Genre: Mystery Novel, Murder, Crime, Chinese

Honor: 2021 BASIS International School ShiBei Chinese Fiction Writing Contest Champion

Intro: This crime is challenging even for a detector who keeps an eye on every single detail like me. The boy died. Murdered. He was 14 years old. A student at the nearby middle school. The murderer had the same age as him and left no clues behind. I couldn't imagine how a juvenile could design such a "perfect" crime that even puzzled the police for weeks. I went to the murdered boy's school for further investigation. Of all the boy's classmates, one of them appeared suspicious. He was nervous and sensitive to the boy's death. However, as I questioned him, I began to ponder a deeper question...Who is the real DEMON behind this all? Is it an individual? Or the entire system? Is it possible, that my hypothesis was all wrong by this point?

 Dawn of Involution

Genre: Fantasy, Horror

Honor: 2022 IOWA Young Writer’s Studio, Forget Ready, Forget Set, Go! Program Final Project

Intro: In this world where the corrupted education system values grades over everything, Eddie increasingly found himself being the misfit. People around him seemed deligent yet emotionless. They were always working for something unreacheable or simply non-existent. Overtime, Eddie began to notice his alienation in school was somehow related to an ancient myth discussed in class.  It was about another group of intelligent beings who possessed the deeper arcane of the world...

Comment from Instructor: To me, this was a story about the dehumanizing effect of competition and expectation – how the pressure to be the “best” among men turns us in fact into the opposite of human. I think these are such interesting themes, set in such a compelling, pressure-cooker environment.
